TEDxGateway 2012: Karthik Naralasetty: Tackling Blood Donation Issues With An Exact Mapping Of Fishes And Fishermen

Karthik Naralasetty started with a story of a young girl who was suffering from Thalassemia. This girl needed 13 units of blood every month to survive. Finding a donor and ensuring that this girl's existence is not shattered at any cost became an uphill task. Most of us do think that donating blood is not a big deal but somehow live under this impression that if I will not donate it will not matter much assuming all others are not thinking like me and are regularly donating blood.

That is the biggest problem in India and all across the globe. And the problem is not being tackled in a meaningful manner as per Karthik. He agrees that lot of people are fine with donation of blood but the method of spending lot of time by lot of people to find these people is not good enough. Lot of energy and money is being wasted but not in a fruitful manner. As per him fishermen are there, plentiful of fishes are there; but the problem is fishermen are not putting the net in water where fishes are. This sync is the biggest debacle of this problem and thereby lot of young girls (boys, men, women, old) are dying due to non delivery of blood to their body that is demanding it.
