Book Review: Soulmates By Chance: A Different Kind Of Love Story But With Big Gaps In Presentation

Soulmates, By Chance is a debut novel by Heenashree Khandelwal is a violent kind of love story between a straightforward and simple girl from a middle class family, and a boy from a high society belonging to a good family but spoilt to an extreme extent during his youth days. Avani Desai is the girl belonging to a Gujarati family and Rakshit Sharma is the boy belonging to a Sharma family. Rakshit has a bad past when three years back he reached to an extreme extent of high society wrongdoings.

The storyline of Soulmates, By Chance by Heenashree Khandelwal goes like this. Three years back Rakshit used to be having a group of high society spoilt youth having their private club to do all kind of bad things - drugs, liquor, late night parties, sex and what not. Raskhit was the most spoiled of them all. He reached to an extent where he had a need of a girl every night for few hours. It was a no relationship affair every night that his club members used to have. The extremity of this pattern reached to a stage where Rakshit was about to have a severe police case in a big sex scandal. If that had happened, Rakshit would have been behind the bars and his father, who was a well known figure of the society would have got a very bad name; and probably a big setback to his business.

Somehow the things get handled with the help of Rakshit's close friend Sharanya whose father was a big shot in police department. After getting things settled down, Rakshit leaves India and joins a company in the United States. After three years Rakshit is sent back to India by his boss to win a big contract for his company. After reaching India Rakshit's old memories start flashing back after he meets his friend Sharanya. A big change happens in his life when for the first time he feels he has fallen in love with a Avani Desai. And then starts a different journey where Rakshit and Avani get married in a strange consequence. This strange consequence further evolves a number of consequences where Rakshit finds difficult to fight with the situation. Gradually the things get settled by the time we reach to last pages of Soulmates, By Chance by Heenashree Khandelwal.
Overall I feel the storyline and writing of Soulmates, By Chance by Heenashree Khandelwal could have managed in a much better way. Right since beginning till the end of this book there is no gripping factor in either of the two that could bind the reader throughout. Heenashree Khandelwal would have to work harder for her next book to overcome these shortfalls.
