We have Rishi Vohra with us today whose debut love story centred around an autistic man titled Once Upon The Tracks Of Mumbai, had 'Honorable Mention' in the 'General Fiction' category at the prestigious Hollywood Book Festival 2013.

A warm welcome Rishi to you from your fans and readers!

Please share some of the best memories of your childhood.

I grew up in a huge society in Mumbai with more than 150 apartments.  We celebrated all festivals, walked in and out of one another’s flats, and enjoyed a true sense of community.  During those years, there were many fond memories – too many to mention!

About your education

I did my entire schooling at Bombay Scottish School followed by two years of junior college and one year of University, both at Jai Hind College.  A scholarship took me to the U.S., where I completed a B.S. in Finance (with a minor in Multi-Ethnic Film/Theatre) and an A.A. degree in Film at Scottsdale Community College, side by side.  Years later, a Social/Environmental MBA took me to San Francisco. During that time, I also completed a Masters Diploma in Environmental Law (World Wildlife Fund) and a Certification as a Specialist of Wine.

What career did you plan during your education days?

Being from a family of engineers, I initially chose the science stream with the aim of becoming a doctor.  Soon enough, I found that my true passion lay in writing and filmmaking.

Who is your biggest source of inspiration in life?

My wife and daughter.  They inspire me to be a better person.

What hurts you most in this world?

Injustice, dishonesty, and violence.  Especially crimes towards women and children.

If you had to live a day of your life as one of the living or dead personality, who would it be and why?

I would like to live the life of Mother Theresa and learn how to be so good in such a bad world.

What is your favorite genre and why?

Drama.  Human emotions is what keeps my interest and anything in the drama genre brings it out the best.

What is the purpose of your writing?

To tell a story.

Which of your work published so far?

I have been published in the Times of India, The Hindu, delWine, and missmalini.com.

What are your forthcoming writings?

My next book is a fun fiction set in Bollywood based on true events.

What are your future plans?

I would like to keep writing and traveling, certify myself further in Wine and set up a hybrid business, half of the profits of which would aim at addressing social issues.

What four top most things you take care of while writing a book?

a) Have a complete story in mind.
b) Know where the characters are headed and what they want.
c) Define the characters well enough so that readers feel for them, and

d) Keep the book entertaining!
